IPOH: About 8,000 state civil servants in Perak will receive a new salary scheme as adjustments are set to be made in the near future.
This move by the Perak state government aligns with the Federal Government’s decision to implement salary adjustments for public servants announced last week.
Menteri Besar Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said Perak will follow the same rates as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He stated that the adjustment is aimed at aligning the salaries of state civil servants with those of the Federal Government.
“Typically, we will follow suit to avoid any disparity between the Federal and state governments.
“We will make some adjustments, but there will be an increase,” he told reporters during press conference after inauguration the Muslim-Friendly Tourism Package – Islamic Journey event here.
Menteri Besar clarified that although the new salary increase will have financial implications for the state government, it must be implemented.
He mentioned that the state government will seek funding to cover the additional expenses.
The Prime Minister announced the new salary rates for civil servants during his speech at the the 19th Public Service Premier Mandate Ceremony in Putrajaya.
A 15 percent salary adjustment has been granted to implementation group officers and management and professional groups.
Meanwhile, a 7 percent increase will be given to top management group officers, to be implemented in phases in December 2024 and January 2026.
