IPOH: Seven students from Fukuoka, Japan, experienced something new as they became exchange students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Raja Chulan here.
SMK Raja Chulan was selected to be the host school for the Ipoh-Fukuoka 2024 Twin City Student Exchange Program.
Along with the students were three accompanying officers from Fukuoka.
The two-day program provided local students with the opportunity to interact with and understand Japanese culture while introducing Malaysian culture to the Japanese students.
Among other things, the program also aimed to enhance students’ communication skills through language use and foster unity and harmony through cultural exchange.
At the same time, students from both countries shared the noble values practiced by Malaysian and Japanese societies.
The highlight of the program was the closing event featuring cultural performances.
SMK Raja Chulan students performed dikir barat, gamelan, and the ‘Soran Bushi’ dance.
The event was concluded with the presence of SMK Raja Chulan Principal Jamil Dayan, accompanying officer from Fukuoka Motoi Tachibana, and the Chief Assistant Director of the Perak State Education Department, Fakhrul Nizam Pakhruddin
