Bangladeshi Factory Worker’s Wrist Crushed After Being Trapped in Coconut Husk Removal Machine

BAGAN DATUK: A Bangladeshi factory worker endured over 40 minutes of pain after his wrist got trapped in a coconut husk removal machine at a factory near here on Thursday.

According to the Assistant Director of Operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the hand of the male victim, identified as 35-year-old Miraj Hossain, was found to be severely crushed.

He said the fire department received information about the incident at 12:03 PM before members of the Hutan Melintang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the location at 12:23 PM.

“It is understood that the worker’s hand became trapped in the coconut husk removal machine while performing his daily work routine at the factory.

“The victim’s hand was trapped up to the wrist and severely crushed,” he said on Thursday.

Sabarodzi added that the head of operations then instructed his team to carry out rescue work using hydraulic equipment.

After the victim’s hand was successfully freed from the machine, he was handed over to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) for further treatment.

The operation, led by PBK II Faris Zahir, was fully completed at 1:12 PM.
