IPOH: Starting tomorrow, several main roads in Ipoh will be closed or redirected for rehearsals and the 67th Merdeka Day parade.
Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, stated that the road closures will take place on August 27 (Tuesday), August 29 (Thursday), and August 31, starting from 6:30 a.m. until the events conclude.
The locations and routes to be used for the Merdeka Day parade include Ipoh Padang, Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, Jalan Sultan Yussuf, Little India, Jalan Tan Sri Tajuddin Ali, Medan Kidd, Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab, and Jalan SP Seevanisagam.
In light of this, motorists are advised to plan their journeys and opt for alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
The affected roads are as follows:
- Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab (redirected to Jalan Kompleks Islam)
- Jalan St John (redirected to Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab)
- Jalan S.P Seenavasagam
- Jalan Sultan Yusuf
- Jalan Dato Maharaja
- Jalan Dato Sagor
- Jalan Tun Sambanthan
- Jalan Market
- Jalan Sultan Iskandar
- Jalan Bandar Timah
- Persiaran Bijih Timah
- Jalan Silang
- Jalan Leong Boon Swee
- Jalan Lahat
- Jalan Tun Abdul Razak
- Jalan Sultan Idris Shah
Motorists are encouraged to follow the directions provided by traffic authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow during the rehearsals and the Merdeka Day celebrations.
