The Perak Turf Club (PRTC) once again combined the excitement of horse racing with the spirit of giving back at their annual Charity Cup Event 2024. This year’s event was all about bringing people together, creating an atmosphere of connection and generosity.

The day’s standout event was the Charity Cup Race 2024, a beloved tradition of the Perak Turf Club. Horse No. 8, Trigger Pegasus, clinched victory with a prize of RM100,000. The race, which featured the thrilling competition, captivated the crowd, and set a high vibe for the day’s events.

Following the race, the momentum continued with the prize presentation. Cheques totalling over RM100,000 were distributed to 27 local charities, each of which is making a significant impact in their respective communities. “Every year, we strive to give back to worthy causes as part of our corporate social responsibility,” shared Dato John Lim, Chairman of PRTC.

A proud moment as cheques totalling over RM100,000 presented to local charities, marking the Charity Cup Event’s mission to give back to the community.

Adding to the day’s highlights, the high tea catered by PWW Baking Studio and Derek Wong, the Equestrian Cafe Chef, was a resounding success. Approximately 50 invited guests enjoyed a beautiful selection of treats. The high tea spread featured a lavish array of gourmet delights, from delicate pastries to savoury bites, all presented to impress the elite attendees.

This year’s event took a meaningful step forward by not only distributing donations but also by directly involving one of its beneficiaries, the Perak Women for Women (PWW) Baking Studio, in a collaborative effort.

Lovely Kanna Jeyaratnam, a passionate supporter of PWW, donned her chef’s hat and whites, personally promoting the delicious creations of the PWW Baking Studio to guests during the high tea.

For the first time, PWW Baking Studio took on a significant role in a corporate event. The Dough-Re-Mi Bakers, a dedicated team of PWW graduates, put in their best effort to ensure the event’s success. “This collaboration is a chance for our women to turn their passion into a sustainable business, helping them support their families and communities,” remarked PWW President Sumathi Sivamany.

For PRTC , this year’s event went beyond distributing donations; it was an opportunity to unveil its broader vision of becoming “More Than Racing.” As Dato John Lim highlighted, “We are transforming the Club into a venue for leisure and lifestyle, beyond just horse racing. Plans to introduce upscale dining, themed experiences, and a sports bar are already in motion. Our vision is for the Perak Turf Club to become a central hub for both sports and leisure, buzzing with activity.”

The Charity Cup Event 2024 set a new standard for blending charity with sophistication. By partnering with PWW Baking Studio, PRTC transformed the event into a stylish mix of philanthropy and high society. It’s a look into PRTC’s shift towards a more community-focused and dynamic future.
