IPOH: The people of Perak are urged to take this year’s Merdeka moment as a fresh start to rekindle harmonious ties as a united Malaysian nation.
The public must be cautious of hate-filled content on social media and divisive political sentiments.
Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, stated that the peace and harmony currently enjoyed should not be risked with animosity, as it is futile.
He emphasised that peace is the foundation of national stability, the key to economic prosperity, and the pillar of social well-being.
“Harmony not only needs to be preserved but must also be continually refreshed with seeds of love and mutual respect.
“Our state is developing rapidly.
“High-impact projects are being actively implemented. Investors are competing to choose Perak as an investment destination.
“We are equipping our youth with various skills. The vulnerable groups are being guided and supported to navigate the harshness of life.
“None of this could be achieved without stability,” he said during his speech at the Ambang Merdeka Celebration at the Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout last night, which was attended by more than 20,000 people.
The Menteri Besar further explained that the Perak state government always prioritises the interests of the people and the spirit of consensus for success.
He said that in a harmonious atmosphere, Perak creates space to progress together, where every citizen can contribute their talents and abilities without fear or prejudice.
“This is our state, this is our home. Safeguard it so that its walls are always adorned with trust.
“Strengthen its foundations with tolerance and mutual respect. Protect its roof with unity and togetherness.
“So that our home remains strong and unshaken,” he emphasised.
