IPOH: The spirit of celebrating Independence Day was also embraced by taxi drivers in Ipoh, who distributed Jalur Gemilang (the Malaysian flag) among their members.
The Chairman of the Perak Taxi Drivers Association, B. Jayaprakash, stated that over 100 Jalur Gemilang were distributed as a symbol of patriotism.
He explained that their initiative, in collaboration with the Peninsula Malaysia Taxi Association (GTSM), aimed to reflect patriotic spirit.
“We, along with 50 members and GTSM, distributed Jalur Gemilang to taxi and hire car drivers around Ipoh.
“Displaying the Jalur Gemilang on their vehicles indirectly adds to the festivity of the Independence Day celebration,” he said.
Jayaprakash added that as small ambassadors, it is the responsibility of taxi and hire car drivers to present the country’s image to passengers, especially tourists.
