The community of Harmoni Flats, Buntong, came together to celebrate Merdeka 2024. The event, held at the Rukun Tetangga Community (KRT) of Taman Harmoni Buntong Flats, drew about 150 residents, demonstrating the strong sense of unity and togetherness that defines this close-knit community.
Counsellor MBI (Zon Falim 7), YBhg Mr. Sivam Kalimuthu, inaugurated the program, setting the tone for a festive and meaningful celebration. Residents joined in singing patriotic songs and reciting the Ikrar Rukun Negara, enjoying a spirited and engaging celebration of Merdeka.
A key part of the celebration was the presentation of participant certificates and hampers to the children who took part in the Drawing and Colouring Contest on August 25th. The contest had two categories: one for children aged 6 to 12 years for colouring and another for those aged 13 to 17 years, who engaged in both drawing and colouring.
The food for the celebration was generously sponsored by Mr. Loke Kok Ming, Managing Director of Autoria Sdn Bhd, ensuring a meal for everyone in attendance. Adding to the vibrant event, the Perak Women for Women Society (PWW) provided groceries to 10 families in need here.
The Harmoni Flats community is known for its active involvement in initiatives that empower its residents. Besides hosting the PWW Baking Studio, which provides women from the B40 community with opportunities to learn baking and entrepreneurial skills, they have also recently launched Celik IT@Harmoni. This new program offers children aged 10 to 14 years basic IT skills, helping to bridge the digital divide and create opportunities for their future.
Muhammad Faiz Abdullah, Chairman of the KRT PPR Taman Harmoni Buntong, expressed his pride in the community’s efforts, stating, “Our community’s dedication to uplifting each other is what makes Taman Harmoni unique. From the ongoing PWW Baking Studio courses to the newly launched Celik IT program, we are focused on empowering our residents and creating opportunities for success.”
The Merdeka celebration at Harmoni Flats demonstrated the power of a united community in driving positive change. The residents of Harmoni Buntong exemplify the positive outcomes when people come together with a shared vision.
