World Stroke Day 2024

by KT Leong

Every year, World Stroke Day falls on 29th October. The stroke day is an awareness programme by the World Stroke Organization (WSO).

This year, to celebrate stroke survivors and increase awareness of stroke among the public, two events will take place. The national Malaysia Stroke Council will collaborate with local organisers, the State Health Department, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh, and Perak tourism for these events.

First, the World Stroke Day Run on 27 October 2024 will be held at Dataran MBI from 7am to 10am. There will be 2 categories, which are the 5 km run for the public and 1 km walk for the stroke survivors. Refer to the poster below for more information and the QR code for registration.

There will be health screenings, health promotion, and lucky draw after the run and many other activities and booths, which will be held along with Ipoh Low Carbon day.

The second event is an Ipoh landmark night light up on 29 October 2024. Last year it was held at Light and Sound, Padang Ipoh. For this year, the organisers will reveal the details later. Stick with Ipoh Echo to find out when the information becomes available.
