SUNGAI SIPUT: The computer lab building at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bawong was destroyed in a fire today.
Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, Assistant Director of the Operations Division at the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), said the fire occurred on the fourth floor of Building A, which was 50 percent burned.
He stated that the fire department received an emergency call about the incident at 12:09 PM, and firefighters from the Sungai Siput Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by Kuala Kangsar, arrived at the scene by 12:45 PM.
“At the time of the incident, classes were running as usual, but no students were inside the lab.
“The building, which measures 35×150 feet, was burned. However, no victims were involved or injured,” he said here today.
Sabarodzi added that the firefighters then conducted a size-up and applied the RECEO concept.
Subsequently, the firefighters extinguished the fire using one 400-foot line, two streams from the fire engine’s tank water source, and hydrants.
The operation, led by PPgB Mohd Azhar Zam Hashari, involved 18 firefighters and was fully completed by 3:25 PM.
