CCTV Becomes the Eyes and Ears at Taman Pertama Commercial Center

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: “The closed-circuit television (CCTV) at Taman Pertama is functioning smoothly, I hope the Taman Pertama Commercial Center will remain clean and safe,” said Cheah Pou Hian, the State Assemblyman for Jelapang.

Four static CCTV cameras have been installed at the Taman Pertama Commercial Center, connected to a control center to monitor images continuously.

After inspecting the control center at the Perak Urban Transformation Center (UTC) last June, Cheah praised the monitoring efforts.

There are local government officials and staff who monitor the screens in shifts, 24 hours a day at the control center.

This setup helps in identifying litterbugs easily and reducing crime rates in the area.

Cheah has plans to increase the number of CCTV cameras at strategic locations around the Taman Pertama Commercial Center.

This includes back alleys and secluded spots often used for illegal dumping.

He hopes to transform the Taman Pertama Commercial Center into a safe and attractive commercial area with smart facilities and diligent oversight from the authorities.

“The next step is to install CCTV at identified locations including Jalan Besar Jelapang, Jelapang Public Market, and Bukit Kledang Commercial Center (Menglembu).

“This approach has the same objective, to identify litterbugs and monitor local security,” he said.

According to Cheah, both commercial centers are located in residential areas that are also facing increasing problems with illegal dumping.

“I urge the community to be civic-minded and avoid littering.

“This behavior not only pollutes the environment and affects the health of local residents but also damages the image of Ipoh city,” he added.
