Man Critically Injured After Being Slashed with a Machete

TAIPING: A 29-year-old man sustained severe injuries after being slashed with a machete on Jalan Dew, Simpang, last Wednesday.

According to Taiping District Police Chief ACP Mohamad Nasir Ismail, the Taiping District Police Headquarters (IPD) received a report from a woman about the incident on Wednesday at 7:20 p.m.

He said that as a result, the suspect, a 25-year-old man believed to be involved in the case, was successfully apprehended.

“The police report was made by a complainant, who is the suspect’s wife.

“The critically injured victim has been sent to Taiping Hospital for treatment.

“Following the information received, a team of officers and personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department, IPD Taiping, was mobilized to locate the suspect and managed to arrest him within less than 24 hours.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the motive behind the incident was jealousy,” he said here today.

In this regard, Mohamad Nasir stated that a case file has been opened under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

This section covers intentionally causing severe injuries with a weapon or other dangerous items, and if convicted, the offender could face up to 20 years in prison, a fine, or caning.

He also urged the Taiping community, in particular, to continue providing information to the police to ensure public safety and order.
