Ipoh – Hospital Seri Botani (HSB) has taken proactive steps by organizing the ‘Always Ready’ campaign to raise awareness of first aid and CPR, aimed at preparing the community to handle emergencies with greater confidence and effectiveness.

Chief Executive Officer of Hospital Seri Botani (HSB), Dr Eric Yeoh Kok Ming, emphasized that timely and effective CPR is crucial for patient survival.

“CPR does not treat the underlying cause of a patient’s collapse, but it ensures the brain receives a continuous supply of oxygen while waiting for further medical intervention.

“Any delay, even as short as 5 minutes, significantly increases the risk of brain damage. If the delay exceeds 10 minutes, death may become inevitable,” he explained.

“This initiative marks HSB’s first step in raising awareness and enhancing CPR skills among the community.

“Previously, the hospital has conducted closed training sessions for corporate employees, school teachers, and car service centre staff in the city, with more than 60 participants involved,” he said during his speech at the ‘Always Ready’ event held recently at Eco-Park 1, Bandar Seri Botani.

Also present were the Member of Parliament for Gopeng, YB Tan Kar Hing, and the Member of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) for Simpang Pulai, YB Wong Chai Yi.

Dr Yeoh further highlighted the importance of seeking immediate medical attention during emergencies.

“Emergencies are unpredictable, and prompt treatment is essential. HSB is committed to providing 24/7 emergency medical care with a trained medical team ready to handle various emergencies.

“I hope the CPR skills learned will be practised to help save lives in emergencies,” he stressed.

In addition to the CPR demonstration, Dr Yeoh expressed his appreciation to all participants for learning this essential life-saving skill.
