Ipoh – The upcoming Moonlight Fiesta, set to take place on September 14 and 15, will highlight the distinctive ‘Batik Lantern,’ which combines elements of both batik art and lantern traditions.

John Ng, Chairman of the Junior Chamber International, Ipoh (JCI), said that the Moonlight Fiesta is being organised in conjunction with Malaysia Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival to foster goodwill among the country’s three major ethnic groups: Malay, Chinese, and Indian.

“The uniqueness of the batik lantern is sure to capture the attention of visitors. It reflects the value of unity through a blend of cultural heritage, creating beauty and harmony.

“We expect more than 5,000 visitors from various ethnic backgrounds to join the two-day Moonlight Fiesta at SJK (C) Chung Tack, Simee.

“A variety of exciting activities have been planned for visitors of all ages, with total prizes worth RM50,000 up for grabs,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

He added that the Moonlight Fiesta will also feature traditional delicacies from Malaysia’s three main ethnic groups, offered through food stalls at the event.

“The treasure hunt on the second day will challenge participants’ skills as they vie for lucrative prizes.

“Children’s activities are also part of the event, such as a LEGO workshop designed to stimulate their creativity and abilities.

“For those interested in batik art, there will be batik painting workshops and a batik colouring competition,” he added.
