IPOH – A sinkhole on Laluan Wira Jaya Timur 16, Taman Rapat Perdana, has raised serious concerns as it continues to grow, posing a threat to the safety of road users in the area.

According to a representative of the residents, a complaint about the sinkhole was submitted to the relevant authorities, including the Ipoh City Council (MBI) and the concessionaire, Puncak Emas Infra Sdn. Bhd.

“We filed the complaint a month ago, but no repair work has been carried out to date.

“We also suggested a temporary road closure, but only three safety cones have been placed as a precautionary measure.

“Simply putting up cones does not solve the problem. We urge the local authorities to take immediate action before any unwanted accidents occur,” he said, requesting anonymity.

He further added that the sinkhole was first detected at the end of June. The actions of some residents in moving the cones have also raised concerns.

“Once again, we hope that immediate steps are taken as the sinkhole continues to grow and is undoubtedly a danger to road users,” he added.
