Different Price Tags Displayed, Different Amounts on Receipt

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: A customer claims that a mini market in Taman Pengkalan Jaya charged a different price than what was displayed on the receipt.

The customer, who wished to be known as Rashid, stated that the incident occurred yesterday afternoon while he was purchasing several items.

Only after returning home and checking the payment receipt did he notice that the price of a pack of cheese he bought was different from the displayed price.

Rashid also shared a photo of the receipt and the pack of cheese.

“The price on the 250-gram cheese pack was printed as RM10.50, but on the receipt it was RM11.75, a difference of RM1.25.

“It was my mistake for not checking the receipt while in the store, I only looked at it after returning home.

“However, it is the responsibility of the mini market management to check prices daily. If prices change in the system, they should also be updated on the products.

“I don’t think the mini market made a mistake because I’ve heard of friends who faced similar issues with different items before.

“So, I feel this is akin to trying to deceive customers,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

Rashid also acknowledged that there might be many other customers who faced the same issue of paying different prices for items purchased.
