TANJUNG MALIM: After being closed for a month, the A121 Slim River-Behrang Ulu Road has been reopened to all traffic.
This includes the Bailey Bridge, a temporary structure built over the Slim River to replace the bridge destroyed by a flash flood.
Previously, the Slim Village Bridge collapsed on August 23.
According to the Muallim District Public Works Department (JKR), the reopening of Section 10.1 of the A121 Slim River-Behrang Ulu Road is now accessible.
“All road users are urged to adhere to the weight limits, directional signs, and safety signage in place.
“Full cooperation from all road users is greatly appreciated. For further information, you may contact JKR Muallim at 05-4520057,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, efforts are being made to preserve part of the Slim Village Bridge’s ruins as a historical heritage site.
This preservation initiative is being carried out by historians in collaboration with Sultan Idris Education University, Tanjung Malim.
The Slim Village Bridge, which witnessed the advance of Japanese troops during World War II, escaped destruction by British forces at the time.
For over 80 years, this bridge served as a vital link for the local community.
