IPOH: A total of 3,411 dengue fever cases, with 10 fatalities, have been reported in the Ipoh City Council (MBI) area as of September 14 this year.
This is compared to 1,191 cases with no deaths during the same period in 2023.
As a result, the prevention of this vector-borne disease remains a focus for MBI through various campaigns and initiatives.
These efforts include emphasizing dengue prevention and control measures as well as promoting a hygienic environment in schools to tackle the spread of dengue cases.
This focus was highlighted during the MBI-level School Environmental Hygiene and Health Campaign at Sekolah Kebangsaan Methodist ACS Ipoh.
The program was officiated by MBI City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak.
Additionally, the importance of food safety awareness among students was emphasized.
Students need to be educated on selecting clean and nutritious food for their safety and health.
This education extends to canteen operators regarding food safety and hygiene practices, as well as personal cleanliness.
Another focus is promoting recycling practices in all schools within the MBI administrative area, educating students on environmental conservation.
This initiative aims to raise student awareness about recyclable items that can be exchanged for cash (trash for cash).
