This disposal includes 14 different types of drugs and related substances, such as heroin, cannabis, liquid cannabis, methamphetamine, ketamine, ketum leaves, ketum liquid, and cough medicine.

All of these illicit substances are linked to cases across various districts in Perak from raids and seizures.

Perak Deputy Police Chief, Deputy Commissioner Zulkafli Sariaat, stated that up until August this year, 14,234 individuals have been arrested for drug-related offenses.

He noted that during this period, the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) of the Royal Malaysia Police in Perak has achieved significant success in combating drug activities.

“A total of 1,771 individuals were arrested for various drug trafficking offenses, which is an increase of 32 cases compared to 1,739 individuals in 2023.

“Of this total, 366 were arrested under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while 88 were detained under the Special Preventive Measures Act 1985.

“Most of these individuals are masterminds or planners and financiers in syndicates that were dismantled in 2024,” he stated.

He made these remarks while officiating the disposal of evidence by JSJN PDRM Perak for 2024 at the Perak Police Contingent Headquarters.

A convoy of trucks accompanied by escorts transported the evidence to Kualiti Alam Sdn. Bhd. in Bukit Pelanduk, Negeri Sembilan, and the Sani Tari Solid Waste Disposal Site in Mukim Belanja, Ulu Johan, Papan.

Elaborating further, Zulkafli mentioned that the total drug seizures for distribution and possession cases have resulted in various types of drugs worth RM5.9 million.

He stated that methamphetamine, heroin, and ketamine were the highest seized drugs in Perak this year.

“Some 4,514 investigation papers have been opened under the Dangerous Drugs Act and Poison Act, with 4,270 cases having been charged.

“We have also successfully confiscated assets from drug traffickers under the 1988 Asset Forfeiture Act, valued at RM7.1 million,” he added.
