Kuala Kangsar Water Sports Festival 2024 is Back!

IPOH: The Kuala Kangsar Water Sports Festival 2024, held in conjunction with the 68th birthday celebration of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, is set to return after a 15-year hiatus.

This festival, organized by the State Government in collaboration with the Perak Youth Council and Muafakat Anak Jati Kuala Kangsar (GEMUDA), will take place over two days starting from October 26 at Dataran Lembah Sungai Perak, Kuala Kangsar.

Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja, Jeneral Datuk Seri Diraja Tan Sri Dr Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin as the Chairman of the Festival’s Main Committee for the water sport festival,  stated that they are targeting 50,000 visitors from both domestic and international to enliven the event.

“For the first time in a long while, the Kuala Kangsar Water Sports Festival returns to rekindle the nostalgic spirit of the people,” he told reporters at a special press conference at the Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) meeting room here.

Also present were Director of the Perak State Information Department, Yosri Abu Mahsin and President of the Perak Youth Council and Secretariat of the Kuala Kangsar Water Sports Festival 2024, Muhammad Puhaz Saleh.

Mohd Zahidi mentioned that this year’s festival will offer an unforgettable experience for all ages.

“Activities include water sports competitions, community activities, land sports contests, and youth competitions.

“Witness exciting events across various categories such as Dragon Boat Racing, Kayak Racing, Jet Skiing, Decorated Boat Parades, and performances like Flyboarding, Jetsurfing, and Lift eFoils Board that are sure to thrill.

“Visitors can also test their skills in traditional games competitions like Congkak, Batu Seremban, Fruit Decoration, Coloring, Zumba, and many more,” he said.

He added that for land sports enthusiasts, there will be competitions in Street Football (3v3), Netball (3v3), Slim Pole, and Pillow Fighting.

“Children won’t miss out either, with engaging contests such as Breakdance, E-Sports, Chinese Calligraphy, Column, Ethnic Costumes and Fashion, Hot Wheels, and Remote Control Car (RC) competitions.

“In addition to competitions, visitors can enjoy a variety of local delicacies, stalls, performances by artists, and interesting agency exhibitions,” he said.

According to him, Dataran Lembah Sungai Perak will also be adorned with festive decorations and a joyful atmosphere.
