IPOH: The collaboration between the community and the private sector in addressing the dengue outbreak was demonstrated at the Self-Help Gotong-Royong Program to Eradicate Dengue in Taman Rishah, Jelapang.

With over 100 participants, the program, conducted in collaboration with K-One Industry Sdn. Bhd. and the Environmental Health Department of the Ipoh City Council (MBI), showcased the spirit of cooperation among residents.

Prior to the event, residents conducted cleaning activities at their homes and collected trash for MBI to collect on the day of the gotong-royong.

This included cleaning waste in yards, clearing garden waste, locating and destroying mosquito breeding sites, and disposing of containers that could hold water in abandoned homes and lots.

The gotong-royong activity was successfully carried out thanks to the cooperation of all those present.

The program was officiated by City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak and Councillor Tang Cheng Wei (Zone 18), and was also attended by the Jelapang State Assemblyman (ADUN) Cheah Pou Hian.

In his speech, Pou Hian expressed pride in the participation of all parties in the gotong-royong program.

“As the ADUN for Jelapang, I am very proud that through programs like this, various layers of society can strengthen relationships while cooperating with government agencies, the private sector, and NGOs.

“I would also like to congratulate MBI and K-One Industry Sdn. Bhd. for successfully organizing this event.

“This effort is aimed at eradicating the dengue outbreak by cleaning up, beautifying, and preventing it from becoming an epidemic,” he stated.

He also reminded that the Taman Rishah 1B Football Field is public property and not owned by any one party.

“Councilors, ADUNs, and Members of Parliament can conduct community activities here without needing permission from the Neighborhood Watch Committee (KRT) since the KRT only serves to ensure the harmony of an area.

“If we all want a peaceful community, the key is cooperation and unity regardless of background,” he emphasized.
