IPOH: As the Deepavali celebration approaches, the welfare of the Indian community from underprivileged families has not been overlooked.
This concern was demonstrated by the Persatuan Berbakat Wanita India Kinta Ipoh, which organized the ‘Kasih Deepavali’ program to support this group.
The association provided essential goods to B40 families in preparation for Deepavali.
The association’s secretary, Subatra Adacapan, stated that the contributions are part of an annual program aimed at assisting the underprivileged community.
“Every year, our association helps B40 families, particularly single mothers, to ease their burden.
“Our organization always supports women in difficult situations, and this is part of our social responsibility,” she said.
Several guests attended the donation event, including representatives from Kinta Ecocity Sdn. Bhd., Chan Yit Xin and Tan Vooi Teng, as well as Ipoh City Council member Counselor Ramesh Subramaniam.
Also present were representatives from PERKESO Ipoh, Umadass, and the Chairman of the Ipoh Kinta Welfare, Culture, Social, and Sports Association, Uvarajan.
Subatra further explained that more welfare programs will be implemented by the association to assist more underprivileged members of the community.
