Elderly Man Dies While Climbing Bukit Kledang

IPOH: An elderly man died from exhaustion and shortness of breath while climbing Bukit Kledang yesterday afternoon.

According to Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, the victim, who was hiking alone, was identified as Goon Swee Long, 71.

He stated that members from the Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene along with 11 personnel.

“The victim reportedly experienced exhaustion and shortness of breath before fainting near the road leading to the transmitter station.

“The firefighters then provided initial treatment and performed CPR.

“However, medical officers from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) arrived at the scene and confirmed that the victim had already passed away,” he said.

He added that the victim’s body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.
