Celebrating Creativity, Community & Compassion

By Anne Das

Quest International University’s (QIU) School of Communication recently hosted a vibrant Communication Info and Showcase event, celebrating student achievements, alumni involvement, and community-driven causes. The event was a testament to the school’s commitment to creativity, collaboration, and social responsibility.

Students showcased their projects in various forms, from graphic designs to photos, videos, and magazines, offering attendees a firsthand look at the school’s diverse talents. These displays fostered meaningful connections between the creators and their audience, with students eagerly sharing the stories behind their work.

A key highlight of the day was the university’s ongoing collaboration with local NGOs, PapanSouls and Noah’s Ark Ipoh. Their partnership came to life through a successful Animal Adoption Drive, where several puppies and kittens found loving homes. The adoption drive was not only a joyful occasion for the adopters but also a powerful reminder of the event’s focus on making a positive impact.

The Alumni Forum provided graduates from various industries, such as media, design, and public relations, the opportunity to share insights from their professional journeys. This session inspired current students while fostering a strong sense of community within the school.

In line with the day’s theme, “The Hero in Us,” alumni also contributed to a Wall of Fame mural, designed by the university’s Advertising students. The mural stands as a lasting symbol of alumni achievements, reflecting their creativity, leadership, and dedication to giving back to the community.

Prof. Dr. Adeline Kok, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, expressed her delight in reconnecting with alumni. “Their stories are a testament to the success of our programmes and the strong foundation we build here at the university. Seeing how they’ve flourished in their careers while maintaining ties with us is truly rewarding,” she shared.

Prof. Adeline also emphasised the day’s focus on community impact: “This event embodies what we stand for as a school – creativity, collaboration, and compassion. Our students not only showcased incredible work, but they also demonstrated their commitment to using communication as a tool for positive change. To see those animals finding new, loving homes made the day even more special.”
