KUALA KANGSAR: Kuala Kangsar Water Sports Festival 2024, in conjunction with the celebration of Sultan of Perak’s birthday, which was supposed to take place today until October 27, has been postponed.
The organizers stated that the festival will be rescheduled to a later date, which will be announced.
“By the grace of the Sultan of Perak, this postponement decision has been made with careful consideration.
“His Majesty understands the disappointment felt by everyone, especially the participants and visitors who have eagerly awaited this festival.
“This decision was made after considering the current situation in Perak, particularly the flooding and heavy rain in several areas that have led to rising river levels.
“It is therefore not appropriate to celebrate during a time when the community is facing difficulties,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the organizers understand the disappointment felt by all parties, especially the participants who have been looking forward to competing and the visitors who have prepared to return to their hometowns.
“The organizers also recognize that many have made thorough preparations, such as intensive training for various water sports events, and some have taken leave solely to witness the festival’s excitement.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused,” they stated.
They emphasized that postponement was a necessary step to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved.
“We hope the community can understand this unavoidable situation,” they said.
Furthermore, the statement clarified that although postponed, the organizers want to assure everyone that the Kuala Kangsar Water Sports Festival 2024 is not entirely canceled.
“Instead, it is merely postponed to a more suitable date, when conditions have returned to normal and the community can celebrate joyfully together.
“The organizers remain committed to monitoring the latest developments and will inform everyone of any changes regarding the new date for the festival,” it said.
They added that further information about the program will be published through official channels and social media.
