IPOH – Uncollected piles of garbage around Ipoh city not only create an eyesore but also harm the city’s image among tourists.
This situation is particularly noticeable with garbage piling up near the Ipoh Tourism Information Center building on Jalan Bandar, Ipoh Padang. Although bins are provided, they appear unable to handle the excessive waste.
A tourist from Kuala Lumpur, Norhayati Imran, 38, expressed her disappointment over the situation, noting that it not only spoils the view but also emits an unpleasant smell due to uncovered bins.
“I happened to stop by to see the murals recommended by a friend, but the piles of trash along the walkway have made the scenery less appealing,” she told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
Norhayati further pointed out that the Ipoh City Council (MBI) should be more vigilant about this issue, as the area is located directly in front of the Ipoh Tourism Information Center, managed by the MBI itself.
“In addition to the odour, there’s also old furniture, flower pots, and various other items. MBI needs to handle this situation promptly,” she stressed.
She also reminded that Ipoh, as a city, should always be well-maintained and clean to maintain a positive image in the eyes of visitors.
