IPOH: Soil erosion along Jalan Berlian, Kampung Dato Ahmad Said, has raised concerns among residents, especially given the recent rainy season.
It is understood that while the Ipoh City Council (MBI) recently implemented temporary emergency measures, comprehensive repair work has yet to be carried out.
One concerned resident, Muhamad Anwar Mohd Sukandar, urged the authorities to expedite repairs, as the eroded area is at risk of further deterioration and potential collapse.
“The landslide along the drain is part of the road reserve. The erosion is moderate in scale, likely caused by overflowed water. Temporary emergency work has already been conducted by the contractor,” he explained.
“We are still waiting for follow-up repair work, but so far, no further action has been taken. What worries us most is that heavy rain could cause the soil to collapse again,” he told Ipoh Echo and Peraktastic.
He added that the plot of land in question lacks a dedicated drain, causing rainwater to flow directly onto the road and into the drain across the street.
“That drain also seems to be showing signs of erosion. We hope that MBI will expedite further repairs as soon as possible,” he added.
