IPOH: Roads that have been dug up for sewerage or piping work should be properly resurfaced to avoid any risks to road users.
However, in Ipoh city, it can be said that roads which have been dug up are unfortunately patched unevenly, with depressions, and are completely different from their original condition.
The same issue has occurred at the intersection leading to Persiaran Cempaka Sari 20, Taman Cempaka, here.
A representative of the residents claimed that the road had been dug up by the Perak Water Board (LAP) for piping work.
However, despite the road being patched, he said it has been sinking further.
“LAP dug up the road last year, and after it started sinking, they patched it up a second time.
“But until today, the road continues to sink, and we, as residents here, are concerned. We don’t know the cause or what is happening to the structure of the road.
“This poses a danger to vehicles, especially motorcycles, as there’s a risk of them falling due to the uneven surface,” he told Ipoh Echo and Peraktastic.
“We hope that Ipoh Echo and Peraktastic can highlight this issue so that the relevant authorities can carry out immediate repairs.
“Previously, complaints were sent to the Ipoh City Council and the Councillor, but so far, no repairs have been made.
“We have made many complaints and sought feedback from the authorities, but we haven’t heard anything,” he said.
