In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Hospital Fatimah recently organized a highly anticipated Wellness Fair at AEON Mall Kinta City. Designed to bring vital health and wellness services directly to the community, the event saw a remarkable turnout from locals eager to take advantage of free screenings, expert consultations, and interactive wellness activities throughout the weekend
One of the primary attractions was the range of free health screenings provided. The hospital’s dedicated team offered basic health assessments, including BMI measurements, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol and glucose tests, ensuring attendees had access to critical health data. The physiotherapy booth proved popular, offering free neck and back assessments, while Dr. Tan Ee Ling, Consultant Ophthalmologist, conducted eye screenings for early detection of vision issues.
In addition to these services, the pharmacy team held “Know Your Medicine” consultations, guiding visitors on proper medication use. Mental health information and resources were shared by Befrienders Ipoh, while the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) contributed to cancer prevention efforts by providing free HPV vaccinations.
Throughout the two-day fair, attendees benefited from insightful talks led by Hospital Fatimah’s consultants, covering an array of essential health topics.
Dr. Koh Wai Keat, Consultant Geriatrician and Physician, addressed the distinctions between normal aging and dementia in “Forgetfulness: Sign of Aging or Dementia,” while Dr. Amalourde Raj, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, discussed “The Future of Spine Surgery.”
Other highlights included “Slim and Strong: The Road to Better Health” by Dr. Satkunan Mark, focusing on bariatric surgery and healthy lifestyle changes, and “Age Gracefully with Healthy Eyes” by Dr. Tan Ee Ling.
Beyond these presentations, special guest speakers from NCSM and Befrienders Ipoh tackled pressing issues in cancer awareness and stress management. The fair also featured workshops on proper lifting techniques led by the hospital’s physiotherapy team, alongside engaging demonstrations in aerobics, line dancing, and safe exercise practices, making health education fun and interactive.
Hospital Fatimah’s Sales, Marketing, and Public Relations Unit made the most of the Wellness Fair by hosting booth sign-ups for its community programs: the Silver Stars Club for seniors and the Fatimah Kids Club, which encourages healthy habits from an early age. Families enjoyed additional activities such as a colouring competition, arts and crafts, and a series of lucky draws.
Bringing together a diverse mix of health screenings, expert consultations, and family-friendly activities, the Hospital Fatimah Wellness Fair exemplified the hospital’s commitment to uplifting community health.
Celebrating 50 years of service, Hospital Fatimah made healthcare accessible and inviting, nurturing a connected and wellness-focused community.
