Recreational parks, especially in the big cities, are becoming an important avenue for city folks. They provide the much needed space for communities in the city to congregate safely and enjoy the environment with their families and friends.
They also provide the ideal space for all walks of people to stretch out and relax. Park environment is also a great place for children to play under the supervision of their parents.Recreational parks help to contribute towards community identity
Green parks in the cities create the ideal, appealing environment for all ages.The relaxing atmosphere helps to boost a healthy lifestyle in the society.
Apart from providing the much needed environment for city folks to relax and participate in light sporting activities it also contributes valuable space for green especially local flora and fauna to thrive.
The recent shade tree planting event organised by Wei Dat Steel Wire Sdn Bhd at polo grounds as part of its corporate social responsibility is much appreciated by park goers.Its hope that other private business entities and ventures will emulate this noble effort .
Recreational parks are going to be a major attraction in due time in major cities as the city population increases. City council should continue to upgrade the parks within its jurisdiction with facilities that sync in harmony with the environment.
Having said that, as a regular park goer, I am of the opinion that it’s time the park authorities (DBI) consider setting up a park committee composed of members of the public.
Setting a public park committee has several advantages and benefits.Among other things the public committee can play an important role in further improving the park .
The public park committee can act as bridge in providing crucial feedback to the park authorities on issues pertaining to the park and the activities conducted in the park.
