IPOH: There is now a motorcycle ambulance service (M-Bike) in Ipoh, the first of its kind in the state of Perak.
This service was introduced by MK Ambulance Service, a subsidiary of My Healthcare Services Sdn. Bhd. (My Healthcare Services).
MK Ambulance Service is a healthcare service provider based in the city, located on Jalan Kamaruddin Isa.
The advantage of a motorcycle ambulance is its ability to reach locations more quickly, taking advantage of the agility of motorcycles, even in heavy traffic.
The founder and director of My Healthcare Services, Mazhar Kadir, said that two motorcycles have been provided for the service: a Husky scooter and a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.
He added that the M-Bike service involved a company investment of about RM70,000 to purchase two motorcycles and their equipment.
“This motorcycle ambulance unit is operated by a nurse and a health assistant, who serve as the frontline emergency response team.
“Each vehicle is equipped with medical tools to provide initial treatment before the arrival of the full ambulance,” he explained.
The charge for this service is RM50 per call, with additional costs depending on the type of treatment provided.
Mazhar further explained that the M-Bike service is also offered to government hospitals to provide early emergency assistance.
He said the M-Bike service complements the company’s 12 existing ambulances, which also have a branch in Golden Hills, Cameron Highlands.
