LUMUT: Heavy rainfall around 3 AM in the Kampung Batu 5 Segari area caused water and mud to overflow into the area.

The situation affected six homes, and the floodwaters also spread onto the main road.

Affected residents were temporarily evacuated to the Dewan Orang Ramai in Kampung Batu 4, Segari.

Pangkor State Assemblywoman, Norhaslinda Zakaria, said her team had delivered immediate assistance, including bottled water, bread, biscuits, and boxed drinks to the residents.

“Agencies involved, such as the police, Civil Defence Force, the Social Welfare Department (JKM), and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKP), have also mobilized their personnel to the area.

“During this visit, I held discussions with the relevant agencies regarding the steps that need to be taken.

“The evacuated residents consist of elderly people as the water is still too strong and dangerous for them to return home,” she said.

Following this, Manjung District Officer, Shamsul Ridzuan Idris, announced the opening of a Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at the Dewan Orang Ramai in Kampung Batu 4, Segari.

The agencies involved will coordinate the preparation and execution of emergency disaster assistance.

Norhaslinda also expressed her gratitude to all the related agencies involved, as well as the Youth Council of Perak State, Pangkor DUN, Armada Bersatu Lumut, and local residents who helped.
