IPOH: A total of 870 kilograms (kg) of packet cooking oil and 87 kg of bottled cooking oil of various brands, stored beyond the allowed limit, were seized from a two-story shop house in Sitiawan.

This was following a public complaint to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Perak, which led to the raid.

The Director of KPDN Perak, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, stated that the inspection revealed the amount of cooking oil stored exceeded the permitted limit.

“The premise owner holds a valid Scheduled Controlled Goods Retail License (CSA) for sugar, cooking oil, and wheat flour.

“However, the storage limit for each controlled item is 500 kg. The owner also acknowledged this during the explanation,” he said in a statement.

Action was taken under Regulation 10(1) of the Supply Control Regulations 1961, which prohibits retailers from holding controlled goods above the allowed limit.

The total value of the seized cooking oil, estimated at RM4,567.50, has been confiscated.
