IPOH: Motorists passing through Persiaran Lapangan 1/2 are advised to exercise caution due to uneven road conditions.
The stretch, located opposite a roadside stall, has become noticeably wavy and uneven, posing a risk to drivers unaware of the road’s state.
Vehicles hitting the uneven section often experience a jarring impact, as the straight alignment of the road gives no warning of the dips ahead.
Upon closer inspection, one side of the road appears to have sunk, sparking fears that it might be an early sign of a sinkhole.
Regular commuter Khairul Hisham Jaafar said the issue has persisted for months, yet no remedial action has been taken.
“The authorities should either repair the road or at least place warning signs or cones to alert drivers to the danger,” he said.
“Those familiar with the road slow down or avoid the area, but unfamiliar drivers are likely to drive straight through. It’s even more dangerous during rain when the dips are harder to notice,” he added.
Meanwhile, resident Arina Safar suspects that heavy vehicles, such as large trucks, may have contributed to the damage, as there is an ongoing housing development nearby.
“Our main concern is whether this road is safe until inspections are conducted. With the rainy season and the recent occurrences of sinkholes in Ipoh, we can’t help but feel uneasy,” she said.
