MANJUNG: The welfare of licensed street vendors under the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) has been given attention with contributions to the Social Security Organization (PERKESO).
Through the Self-Employed Social Security Scheme (SKSPS), this initiative involves 2,000 vendors with a total contribution of RM46,600.
This initiative also makes MPM the first local authority (PBT) in Perak to collaborate with PERKESO.
In addition, MPM offers special incentives to the first 2,000 vendors who renew their licenses before December 31, 2024.
During a stakeholder engagement session, MPM President Muhammad Faizal Shah Safian Suri stated that there are 2,664 active vendors under MPM’s supervision for 2024.
He added that 121 vendors have started renewing their licenses for 2025.
“They are the first group to be automatically registered into the PERKESO contribution scheme through this initiative,” he said.
MPM has also decided to impose a mandatory SKSPS contribution requirement for the vendor sector, effective December.
An additional document required for license renewal is the copy of the SKSPS PERKESO contribution.
Also present at the engagement session was the Director of PERKESO Perak, Mohanadas Veraya.
