IPOH: The safety of housing and environments for senior citizens is being evaluated to ensure their well-being remains a priority.

This was among the key discussions during the Program Sejahtera Warga Emas, Komuniti Mesra Usia held at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) Perak.

The initiative aligns with the 11 indicators of sustainable development goals, aiming to create inclusive, safe, and resilient cities and settlements.

The programme also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of safe housing for senior citizens, particularly those requiring special care.

The discussion featured experienced panellists who delivered talks to participants.

Earlier, the programme was officiated by Perak’s State Housing and Local Government Committee Chairperson, Sandrea Ng.

In her speech, she emphasized that programmes like these enable participants to better understand the safety needs of senior citizens, ensuring their overall well-being is protected.

This initiative is part of the Perak state government’s collaboration with the Ipoh City Council (MBI) and the Perak Housing and Property Board.

Also involved were the Malaysian Association of Social Workers and Care Homes.
