By: Zaki Salleh

IPOH: Her father worked as a banana tree cutter with no formal education, while her mother was a homemaker who occasionally took on hosting gigs.

Yet, this did not deter Divvyaa Tamilselvam from excelling in her studies, culminating in a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with First-Class Honours from the Faculty of Business, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), during a recent convocation ceremony.

The 26-year-old said her parents’ hard work and determination inspired her to change her family’s future through education.

Hailing from Ipoh, Divvyaa dedicated her success to her beloved parents, Tamilselvam and Poomathi PJK.

“I grew up in a modest family. My father worked tirelessly to provide for us, ensuring we could achieve the highest level of education.

“This achievement is a token of gratitude for all the sacrifices and hard work of my parents. I dedicate this degree to them,” said Divvyaa, who is currently employed in Singapore.

Coming from a middle-class family that instilled discipline in their children, Divvyaa found motivation to excel academically from an early age.

Her educational journey is a testament to her dedication and brilliance.

“During school, I consistently achieved A grades in major exams, scoring 7As in UPSR, 8As in PMR, and 12As in SPM.

“With these outstanding results, I pursued my undergraduate studies at Universiti Malaya, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology,” she shared.

Divvyaa’s achievements reflect not only her intellectual excellence but also her unwavering determination to succeed.

A former student of SJKT St Philomena Convent and SMK Seri Puteri, Ipoh, Divvyaa’s success serves as an inspiration for students to shape their futures.
