IPOH: Potholes and uneven road surfaces in and around Ipoh city frustrate road users, particularly at Jalan Kompleks Sukan, Kampung Simee.
These conditions have not only caused discomfort but also posed significant risks to road users, especially motorcyclists and drivers of lighter vehicles.
A frequent road user, Kamarudin Jabar, 55, expressed his concerns about three potholes along the main road, which he said have increasingly disrupted the traffic flow.
“There are two small potholes that are widening near the traffic lights at the four-way junction and a large one on the left shoulder of the road.
“This has made the road uneven, forcing many drivers to swerve suddenly to the right to avoid the potholes, which is dangerous for vehicles trailing behind,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
Kamarudin added that the large pothole on the left side often collects water during rain, creating further hazards for motorcyclists who risk slipping or meeting with accidents.
He urged the authorities to repair the damaged road promptly to prevent any untoward incidents.
A further inspection revealed that the entire stretch of Jalan Kompleks Sukan, from Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah to the stadium roundabout, is riddled with potholes and uneven surfaces.
This raises safety concerns, particularly as the road is a narrow one-way route frequented by heavy vehicles, heightening the risk of accidents.
Road users are calling for immediate action from the relevant authorities to ensure safety and comfort for all.
