IPOH: The spirit of Christmas was in full swing as 77 children from three orphanages in Perak were treated to a festive celebration at Cascada Café, Pengkalan, on December 7.
The bright and sunny morning brought smiles and laughter despite the heavy thunderstorms in previous days, making the event all the more memorable.
The children hailed from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Jaz (Teluk Intan), Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Pelangi Perak (Rainbow Home), and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Harapan Baru, both from Ipoh.
Months of meticulous planning by the volunteers from the Ipoh Bug Community Service ensured that the day unfolded flawlessly, spreading joy and festive cheer among the young attendees.
The event kicked off with games that were carefully organised by the volunteers, splitting the children into two groups—one indoors and the other outdoors.
Classic games like tic-tac-toe and “Guess the Drawing” kept the children entertained. Shouts of excitement and laughter filled the air as the children immersed themselves in the fun activities, with prizes awaiting the winners at the end of each game.
Meanwhile, a group of children from Rainbow Home prepared a special performance of Christmas carols, culminating with a spirited rendition of Feliz Navidad that had everyone clapping along. Their heartfelt singing added a magical touch to the celebration, spreading the Christmas spirit to all present.
As the games and performances ended, the children were treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch. Each child received a Christmas gift, thanks to the generosity of well-wishers and supporters. The thoughtful gestures ensured that no child was left empty-handed, carrying both a gift and warm memories home.
The day ended on a high note, with the organisers and volunteers commended for their efforts in bringing joy to these young hearts. As the festive cheers echoed through the café, the Ipoh Bug Community Service volunteers left a lasting impression of love, warmth, and unity.
