KUALA LUMPUR: Time to head back to your hometown.
The government has announced a toll exemption for Class 1 vehicle users (private vehicles) in conjunction with this year’s Christmas celebrations.
The toll exemption will be effective from 12:01 a.m. on December 23, 2024 (Monday) until 11:59 p.m. on December 24, 2024 (Tuesday).
It will apply to all toll plazas nationwide, except for the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) Toll Plaza and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza in Johor.
According to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the initiative will incur financial implications of RM38 million, which will be reimbursed to the toll concessionaires.
“This toll exemption aims to allow Malaysians of various races, cultures, and religions to come together and celebrate Christmas, especially for Christian devotees.
“Make good use of the toll exemption and plan your journey wisely to avoid traffic congestion during the holiday season,” he said.
He added that the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) advises road users to adhere to the Travel Time Advisory (TTA) schedule to ensure a safe and smooth journey.
Motorists are also encouraged to monitor real-time traffic updates via LLM’s official channels.
