MANJUNG: The role of naval personnel is not only to ensure the country’s security, but they are also ready to assist the community.
This was demonstrated by 60 officers and crew members of the KD Kasturi warship through the Jiwa Murni program at the Paya Bakau Eco-Tourism Park, Lumut Town.
The program was supported by the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) and the NGO, Friends of the Earth Activists Association (KUASA).
Among the activities carried out were repairing the broken wooden nursery fences damaged by the actions of monkeys and relocating 288 polybags of mangrove seedlings from the open site to the nursery, as well as cleaning the surrounding area.
The objective of the program was to strengthen relationships among the military personnel, MPM, and NGOs, while also carrying out community programs by the naval personnel.
Program Coordinator for KD Kasturi, Affan Reduan, expressed his admiration and gratitude for the support received from all parties in making the program a success.
He also mentioned that many participants were visiting the mangrove park for the first time, finding it very interesting, and gaining a lot of knowledge about mangroves.
