Making Zero Waste a Way of Life for the Perak Community
IPOH: In just nine months since its official opening, Ipoh Refill has shown that zero waste can be more than just an ideal—it can be a practical, everyday lifestyle.
Despite being a humble establishment, Ipoh Refill’s 2024 Impact Report highlights its remarkable achievements in reducing waste and inspiring sustainable habits within the Ipoh community.
One of the report’s most impressive highlights is the prevention of over 7,000 plastic containers from ending up in landfills.
Through its refill station and eco-friendly product offerings, Ipoh Refill has empowered customers to embrace reusable alternatives and reduce their plastic footprint.
Additionally, Ipoh Refill contributed to renewable energy efforts by collecting 1,100 kilograms of used cooking oil, which was converted into biodiesel.
This initiative not only reduces waste but also supports cleaner energy production.
To spread awareness and foster community engagement, Ipoh Refill conducted 10 talks and roadshows across Perak, reaching more than 3,000 individuals with practical advice and tips on zero-waste living.
Founder Hwang Pei See, committed to making zero waste a lifestyle and reducing single-use plastics in the Perak community, has ambitious plans to expand Ipoh Refill’s reach and influence.
“I envision a future where Ipoh leads the change as Malaysia’s greenest city, setting an example for sustainable living across the nation” she said.
In February 2025, Ipoh Refill will relocate to a larger space behind Lotus in Medan Ipoh.
This expansion will feature a bigger “Hungry Room,” an enhanced product range, and more workshops to make sustainable living even more accessible to everyone.
As Ipoh Refill looks to the future, its achievements in 2024 serve as a testament to the power of how small actions can create significant change for the environment.
