IPOH: Beginning tomorrow (January 1, 2025), visitors staying in Perak must pay an additional RM3 as part of the state’s Local Service Charge (CPT) initiative.
This additional charge aims to help the state government enhance services, particularly at tourist hotspots.
The announcement is not new, as it was previously disclosed by Perak Housing and Local Government Committee Chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching.
In a press conference held in June, Sandrea explained that the RM3 charge applies per room, per night, for paid accommodations.
She noted that the fee is by the Hotel Enactment 2023, which was passed in the Perak State Legislative Assembly last year.
Sandrea also highlighted that similar charges are already in place in other states, albeit under different names and interpretations.
Perak initially postponed the implementation of the fee to January 1, 2025, as a gesture of appreciation for the influx of visitors during Visit Perak Year 2024.
