IPOH: Authorities are urged to conduct inspections to ensure the safety of residents living in Persiaran Bukit 1, Meru Heights, following a landslide incident that occurred last week, leaving the local community in a state of alarm.
The landslide caused damage to the rear parts of residents’ homes after earth slid just a few meters from the houses. However, no vehicles were reported to have been affected.
State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Manjoi, Mohd Hafeez Sabri, visited the area to assess the damage and investigate the cause of the incident.
He mentioned that the landslide affected the homes of Haji Zainal Abbidin and Haji Alias, both members of the Al Muttaqin Mosque congregation in Taman Meru.
“We have contacted the relevant authorities following the incident, and we are doing everything we can to assist the affected homeowners,” he said.
Meanwhile, one resident, Shahrul Ezad, expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the assistance, including the Manjoi ADUN Service Center.
He explained that the landslide impacted the rear of his father’s house.
“The relevant authorities, such as the Perak Water Board, have come to carry out cleaning work and repair the collapsed slope. My family and I would like to thank everyone who helped,” he said.
