IPOH: The popular tourist destination, Tasik Cermin Ipoh is targeting to attract 1 million tourists in 2025.
This target aligns with the transformation and success the attraction has achieved so far.
Known as one of the ‘Ipoh Hidden Gems’, Tasik Cermin Ipoh received the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) Award for Muslim-Friendly Tourism Destination and the ‘The Best Accessible Tourism Initiative Award’ at the Perak Tourism Awards 2024 held at Hotel Casuarina@Meru recently.
The CEO of PKNPk and Executive Chairman of Majuperak Holdings Berhad (MHB), Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak, said that the transformation of Tasik Cermin from a former quarry to a tourism icon symbolizes dedication to natural conservation and economic development in Perak.
“We are proud to bring this unique experience to the world.
“Once, this site was a major contributor to the nation’s economy through the mining and tin industry, and now it has been developed as a tourism hub contributing to both the state and national economies,” he said in a statement today.
Redza Rafiq added that this was a proud initiative for Majuperak Holdings Berhad (MHB) and STG World Sdn Bhd (STG) for successfully conserving this geological heritage, earning recognition in the prestigious awards.
“Since it began operations in 2022, we, together with STG, have ensured that visitors have comfortable access and facilities by providing paved entry roads, adequate parking, toilets, prayer rooms, and continuously improving facilities and services.
“The operators also ensure the environment is well-maintained, as this location is about 250 to 480 million years old and is listed as one of the destinations in the Kinta Valley Geopark,” he said.
Meanwhile, the CEO of the MHB Group, Yazurin Sallij, said that the award not only recognized the tourist destination itself but also the quality of services at Tasik Cermin.
“Beyond environmental sustainability, our collective commitment to quality, cleanliness, and visitor-friendly facilities is highly prioritized.
“This prestigious award will serve as a benchmark for us to ensure that Tasik Cermin is not only a popular destination but also an icon of the city of Ipoh,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Tasik Cermin Ipoh, Ng Seong Ping, stated that STG is working closely with MHB to continue promoting Tasik Cermin.
“We will actively introduce more outdoor activities and exciting programs throughout 2025 such as ATV rides, the Perak Food Fiesta, World Geology Day, Tasik Cermin Run, and others for visitors to enjoy,” he said.
