IPOH – Chinese New Year is often filled with happiness and excitement as families come together to celebrate.

However, for patients staying in the hospital and away from their loved ones, it can be a deeply emotional experience.

Recognizing this, Perak Community Specialist Hospital (PCSH) continues its annual tradition of hosting a special Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner for its patients.

The event aims to ensure that patients still feel the festive cheer, despite being separated from home and family.

This thoughtful initiative goes beyond just providing meals; it brings the warmth of family into the hospital, making patients feel that they are not alone.

Each patient is treated to a traditional Chinese New Year dinner, featuring dishes symbolizing prosperity, happiness, and unity.

Hor Lee Lian, 64, a patient who is spending her first Chinese New Year in the hospital, expressed her gratitude for the initiative.

“This special dinner makes me feel as if I’m still part of the festive atmosphere. The level of care and attention really makes us feel appreciated and at home,” she said, hailing from Ipoh.

So Chooi Fah, 88, another patient from Ipoh receiving treatment at PCSH, shared similar sentiments.

“I’m deeply touched by this gesture. It’s not just about the food, but about feeling valued and remembered during such an important time,” she said.

Nicholas Chan, CEO of PCSH, emphasized that patients are the hospital’s priority in every aspect of care.

“During festive seasons like Chinese New Year, we want to give more than just medical treatment.

“We want to create moments of joy and strengthen connections.

“This special reunion dinner is our tradition of bringing the warmth of home to those who cannot be with their families,” he said.

He added that, with the arrival of the Year of the Snake, PCSH hopes the reunion dinner will bring comfort and joy to its patients, reminding them that they are always loved and appreciated.

“At PCSH, every patient is part of our family. This celebration is a testament to the love and care we provide every day,” he concluded.
