SAHOM – Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) remains committed to its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives through the MechCare Empowering Sahom Through TVET program, benefiting the local community in Kampung Sahom.

The program involved servicing and cleaning air-conditioning systems at Masjid Kampung Sahom and Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Sahom, enhancing the comfort of the residents.

Program coordinator Dr Adzuieen Nordin said the initiative not only allowed students to apply their technical skills but also contributed to the well-being of the community.

“We hope to continue organising similar programs to ensure students develop not only strong technical expertise but also a high sense of social responsibility,” she said.

The program, which commenced at 9.30 am, was organised by PUO in collaboration with the Team Centre of Air-conditioning and Refrigeration and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

A total of 10 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Air-conditioning and Refrigeration) students, along with their lecturers, took part in the initiative.

Residents welcomed PUO’s efforts in improving public facilities in their area.

This initiative not only strengthens technical and vocational education and training (TVET) but also enhances students’ employability in the industry.
