IPOH: Jelapang State Assemblyman, Cheah Pou Hian, has helped cover the burial costs for an elderly man who passed away last week.
During this period, the body of the elderly man, Kuppusamy Nagalingam, 68, remained unclaimed at the hospital.
According to Pou Hian, he took it upon himself to bear the burial expenses out of goodwill.
He made a contribution to Divine Funeral and Services for the arrangements.
“As an ADUN and leader, I feel it is my duty to assist families who are unable to bear the cost of a funeral. It is the final respect to the deceased,” he said.
Since becoming a representative in 2018, Pou Hian has helped six families with funeral expenses through donations.
