Special committee to monitor landslide Incident at Taman Bunga Raya

TAPAH: The landslide incident at Taman Bunga Raya, Tapah, which caused a leak in the raw water pipe belonging to the Perak Water Board, has caught the attention of the state government.

The Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, visited the site to assess the situation firsthand.

He was briefed by the responsible officers on the current developments regarding the incident.

During the visit, the Menteri Besar also met with residents whose homes were affected by incident.

“Thank God, repair work on the pipes has been carried out, and the water supply disruption in the Batang Padang and Hilir Perak areas has been fully restored.

“I have instructed the District Officer to establish a special committee with the local authorities, technical departments, and relevant agencies to ensure and confirm that this area is safe for habitation as soon as possible.

“We understand the concerns of the Taman Bunga Raya residents. Our focus now is to ensure the safety of the people remains a top priority,” he said.

Saarani further explained that the state government would continue to cooperate with the involved departments and agencies to ensure that preventive and recovery measures are implemented promptly.

At the same time, efforts will be made to find ways to alleviate the burden of affected residents.

The incident, which occurred on February 6, led to a landslide near residents’ homes.

The ground movement caused a leak in one of the pipes, resulting in a water supply disruption for 50,000 users in Tapah, Bidor, and Teluk Intan.
