By Zaki Salleh

KAMPAR: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, graciously officiated the opening of the Tunku Abdul Rahman University (UTAR) Hospital here.

The non-profit hospital, which cost approximately RM300 million, began full operations on August 1, 2023.

What sets this hospital apart is its unique approach, combining both Western and traditional medicine to offer a more holistic healthcare experience, with 350 beds available.

Located next to the Tunku Abdul Rahman University Kampar Campus, the hospital serves as a teaching and community hospital.

It also plays a key role in medical education and public healthcare.

In his speech, the hospital’s Board Chairman, Tan Sri Dr Chuah Hen Teik, mentioned that the medical center has treated more than 35,000 patients since its opening.

Additionally, over 100,000 patients from across the country have visited the Traditional and Complementary Medicine (TCM) Center, which offers Chinese, Ayurveda, and Malay medicine since its launch in April 2022.

“This demonstrates a strong solution in integrative healthcare.

“There are plans to add 250 additional beds in the future as needed,” he said.

Also present at the opening ceremony were Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, and the state government’s exco members.
